On Thursday 7 July, David Fitzsimons presented to Elisa Beitzen-Heineke the Oakdene Hollins annual prize for the best environmental student thesis at Cranfield University. Elisa's family travelled from Einbeck in southern Lower Saxony to see her graduate from the Cranfield MSc programme. Her thesis is being prepared for publication and we plan to highlight the study when the date is finalised. Elisa has joined her family's business - BioCare, based in Germany - which develops biological plant protection products.
On presenting this year's certificate and prize, David raised a laugh amongst the audience of academics and graduating students by apologising that the Oakdene Hollins prize money is paid in £ - so advised Elisa to exchange it for € as quickly as possible!
