Kathleen wrote to us about the possibility of undertaking work experience with us in the summer.  She is currently in her second year at the University of East Anglia studying for an Environmental Science degree, and she plans to study for a further year to gain a Masters.

On finishing her Masters she is hoping to join a consultancy firm, so she was looking for work which could not only be of value to us but would also be helpful to her future career. “Although I am studying a range of topics at university I am particularly interested in sustainability, re-use and energy,” she says.

Of her UEA course she says: "This course has given me the chance to work in groups and enhance my communication and organisational skills and to be able to adapt when working in fast changing environments."  Her modules include Low carbon energy, Sustainability and society, and Environmental politics and policy making.

Kathleen is hoping that her volunteering (working in charity shops and at a youth centre) and work experience (in legal departments and work shadowing for the British Antarctic Survey) will have strengthened her communication skills, her ability to work as part of a team, and her initiative to work on her own.

"I am well travelled and get on well with all types of people," she says, “and am looking forward to honing my skills and developing my interests at Oakdene Hollins.”
