David Fitzsimons MBA CEnv
Oakdene Hollins founder David Fitzsimons has more than 20 years of experience in sustainable technology consulting. His strength is in the application of economic instruments to environmental policy objectives, in measurement of resource efficiency, and in analysis of market opportunities for environmental technologies.
David’s work in an international context includes major studies on deposit refund systems for beverage containers, on the CO2 impact of exporting vs recycling papers and plastics, and several on international used oil markets. David has peer reviewed LCA papers on waste management options for paper, glass, plastics, wood, aggregates, steel and aluminium, and chaired an International LCA Critical Review Panel. He has also contributed to major papers for Government and City audiences on resource efficiency, carbon reduction and energy from residual wastes.
After reading economics at UEA, David worked in the investment arm of NatWest Bank plc and was Economic Development Manager at London Borough of Southwark before gaining an MBA from the London Business School and moving into business development at Shanks Waste Solutions plc.
David is a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) and a member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CMInstWM) and the Institute of Energy. He chairs an industrial liaison group at Cranfield University and has a particular interest in the development of product stewardship programmes.
