Improving the efficiency of pig and poultry supply chains.

Peter Lee and Harry Symington visited the annual Pig and Poultry Fair in Stoneleigh, Warwickshire. They met up with industry experts in the pig and poultry industries to discuss the findings of the recently completed whole chain efficiency projects.  The work was done in collaboration with poultry processor Moy Park and retailers Morrisons and The Cooperative.

Peter and Harry managed to meet with trade association AHDB – Pork, poultry breeder Aviagen, pig genetics company JSR Genetics, and Morrison’s own meat supplier Woodheads. The knowledge learned from the projects was well received and was, more importantly, relevant to ongoing industry efforts to improve the respective supply chain operations. Collaborative opportunities were identified surrounding the eating quality of pork and the variable growth rate of chickens.

The Food and Drink Sector team at Oakdene Hollins is now looking forward to pursuing the opportunities in partnership with agricultural consultancy ADAS UK Ltd.
