Volvo - Taking the trip of a (product) lifetime!

An adventure from Aylesbury to Göteborg - and back.

Oakdene Hollins is sponsoring Jack Hardy and his team mates in the ‘Rusty Rally’ – a drive through six countries in three days, covering a staggering 1,000 miles. ‘Staggering’, because the trip has to be completed in a car worth less than £500... so they're travelling in a Volvo 940, no less! There’s no better car marque than Volvo for expressing warm Anglo-Nordic relations and a commitment to product longevity – and maybe that’s why Volvo is a member of the Conseil Européen de Remanufacture, the European Remanufacturing Council run by Oakdene Hollins.

The Rusty Rally is a fun challenge that will raise funds for The Outward Bound Trust. Each car is expected to raise or donate £10,000. The whole amount goes directly towards funding bursaries to enable disadvantaged young people to attend a life changing course. The Outward Bound Trust makes its courses as widely available as possible to all young people because “a lack of funds should not be a barrier to boosting a young person’s confidence and self-esteem and improving their ability to work with others and to lead others.”

Jack, who is married to Tania from our Finance Department, will be driving with his team through the beautiful countryside of France and Belgium, the canals and lowlands of the Netherlands, the great cities of Northern Germany and the Nordic beauty of Denmark and Sweden... the Volvo is heading home.
