3D-printed rare earth magnets for electric vehicles

Mkango Resources Ltd and Metalysis Limited are jointly researching, developing and commercialising novel rare earth metal alloys for use in 3D-printed permanent magnets.

Great news that Mkango Resources has picked up the novel technology developed by Metalysis.

Oakdene Hollins worked with Metalysis founders in the early stages of this innovation, projecting large cost and energy savings from this route to alloys – including rare earth magnetics, a key component in wind turbines - before they’d even been prototyped.  We’ve kept a watching brief since, so we wish the venture every success and look forward to many more such developments.
